Dr. Grossman was our family pediatrician at Berkeley Pediatrics. I was a sickly child, allergic to bacteria, which means I would have been a bubble baby had they invented them then. You could watch me get sick if anyone with anything walked into a room. I missed most days of school and was a dyslexic ‘dummy’. Now I am 66, so I say he did a good job.

When I was 8 Dr. Grossman tried an experimental treatment on me, and I do not know what he used, but I had injections twice a week at his office for three months, and that cleared up my lower respiratory tract, and after a break of several months, he repeated that for another three months and that cleared up my upper respiratory tract.

What he gave me, I do not know but my mother said it was later banned in the US and stayed available in Canada. It certainly worked a miracle on me. I was after that able to attend school on a more daily basis and I had changed schools so the bullying stopped. Kids can be very mean!

While, I can not say he saved my life, I may have continued to live, I was sometimes suicidal as a young child (bullying) so who knows? I sure can attest to the fact he improved the quality of my life immeasurably.

My daughter saw him too for a while, she loved him and called him Ocker Ossman. She also had respiratory issues, but this treatment had been banned in the US so she just got lots of antibiotics, and no incredible healing happened with that treatment. We all loved him. I used to see him around town sometimes, although not for years, and he always had a kind and warm smile. Thank you for a well lived life, Dr. Elmer Grossman.

He will be missed by all, and continues to be an inspiration. I am forever in appreciation and gratitude to him.
