From: Kirk & Aline Grossman

Dear Elmer:

What do you say to someone you have respected, admired and loved for your entire lifetime? It's hard to know.
What I do know is what an out-sized impact you had on our family. Trusted uncle, friend, scholar, doctor, reader, writer, gourmand and all-around really interesting person. You are all those things and so much more. No one could tell a story or engage in enlightening conversation better than you, Elmer.

I've heard you say a few times over the last couple of years that you don't have any "words of wisdom" for us. But words are only words. Rather, you lived an exemplary life. You showed all of us how it was possible to have not just a happy life but a fulfilling life---which to me is a higher, richer, deeper form of happiness. But you didn't live your life for us to copy. And that, to me, was the message---not words---but the act of living a full and rewarding life. Your example told us to find our own path to fulfillment. Examples are so much better than words of wisdom. And you are the best example there is, Elmer.

The World and the Universe are a better place because Elmer Grossman was in it.

We love you Elmer,
Kirk & Aline
