Hi Elmer,
I remember when I first met you when I was the acting secretary for the Community Health Commission. It was so clear that whenever you spoke that the other commissioners respected your thoughts and feelings.
Then it was so crazy that 10+ years later, I would meet Pam and be part of your life through her!
A short update from our front line: It is such a challenging time here at Meals on Wheels. It looked like our former volunteers were feeling more comfortable to return to delivering—and then the next period of increased infections followed and the few that returned felt it important to primarily shelter again. It’s so heartbreaking for me to go through their decision making process because their hearts are so pure and they want to help so badly. Being 57, I totally respect all of the folks that need to protect themselves right now.
The Covid 19 crescendo has also affected us because schools are not opening and both staff and volunteers are needed at home to watch their kids and to help with the virtual learning. Dom and Billy are both home right now and I love seeing them every day.
It’s remarkable how strong our team is here and how the staff continue on with bright smiles and dogged determination! The team here lifts my heart and makes me remember the many positive aspects of this pandemic.
We are thinking of you and Pam here at Meals on Wheels and know that you are in the best care ever. Please know that we are here to support you and your family, so please don’t hesitate to ask—we want to be here for you!
Love you all,
Dina and the crew
